Somewhat of a Life Update

  • Oct. 17th, 2008 at 11:16 PM
Blue - Reflective
Well, it has been a while since I've written in this thing. Life goes, I guess. Still haven't heard anything from any jobs I've applied for. The temp agencies have been silent. *sighs* I don't know why I even bothered. Still scouring the help wanted sections. Maybe I'm just barking up the wrong tree or something. Or purring? I don't know. Ceiling in kitchen is know trying to crack due to the mysterious leak. *sighs* Momma has had people come out and look and see where the water is coming in, but no dice. They can't find any sort of signs. Roof still looks solid, apparently. It's got to be somewhere or we wouldn't be having any problems. But on the good side, someone sent Momma an early Christmas present in the form of a new stove. The oven part of the old one got hit by lightning several months back and whoever is no longer making parts for that one. So no fixing unless we could find another used model to get a part. Haha. But new one is nice and shiny. Momma's paranoid it's going to get dirty. *g*

I nearly pulled an all nighter last night. I couldn't sleep, so I stayed awake till four. I must have passed out sometime after that. I haven't done that in a long time. It felt vaguely Judson-ish. I re-read an old Harry Potter fic. 40 chapers, whoo. Yay for good old long chaptered fics. It was refreshing to read something that wasn't just a drabble. I need more books. Must go back to the library.

Been going through old papers, trying to make sense to the insanity that is my things. Old test papers from high school and handbooks from various things make me laugh. I love finding old cards. I have two brown envelopes of Christmas/Birthday/whatever cards. So fun to see the signatures and cute little messages.

Slow facebook is slow.

Been watching Grey's Anatomy this season. Tre amusing. Love Cristina and Bailey. Sandra Oh is the best. I miss SG-1 though. Stupid Sci-Fi.

Being without caffeine has been going well. Almost three months now and really bad craving, though I did have headaches. What I wouldn't give for a Dr. Pepper though. Caffeine-free Dr. Pepper is just like drinking muddy water. Meh. If Caffeine-Free Mountain Dew didn't have much sugar, I'd consider that. Ah well, I guess I'll stick with water. I need to be drinking more of it anyways. Supposed to get about 2000 ml a day. x.x Lovely. I'm up to 1500 ml at least. Maybe. *tries to remember how much she's actually had today*

I need new glasses. I have stupid white spots on the right lens and Walmart refuses to replace them, even though they're not even 7 months old. Said the white discolouration was from cleaning products. ... Ye-ah. Thanks Walmart.

Various RPG profiles and posts are waiting to be finished, so I shall say adieu for now.

Not to be confused with computer RPGs, which are a different kettle of fish altogether.

I've been playing RPGs for the past ten years

Like seriously. <3 It's a wonder they can put up with us humans. Poor Jeremyan... ;_;

(Spoilers for anyone who is reading, or is considering reading the Obsidian trilogy or it's soon to be following companion series)

But yeah, I love Mercedes Lackey, but I just spent the past three hours giggling. She and James Mallory wrote a series recently called The Obsidian Trilogy. While it was well recieved, it wasn't over the top writing or an in-depth look at the human soul. It was just a good solid fantasy. And I loved it. It wasn't thought provoking, it was simply a journey which I enjoyed greatly. Now the two authors have decided to extend the series by adding a new series, called The Enduring Flame, with the first book called 'The Phoenix Unchained'. It's cute, it's really cute, but seriously, the most amusing Marty Stu character I have seen in Terciel. It kinda feels like Harry Potter epicness, as the elves and wild mages are now expecting this seventeen year old kid to suddenly learn High Magick and save the world once more. Oh yeah, and High Magick hasn't been used since the last great war, so there's no one around to teach it. *shakes head* I do like how in the '1000 years that has passed' since the third war against the Endarkened, that Kellen and Idalia's stories got so twisted in Armethelia that Ancaladar became "Ancaladar the Star Crowned." If I could see a black dragon *rofl*, then that's what he would have been doing when he got called that. Most assuredly, Anacaladar was amused he was considered reverant. ;)

The only thing that made me scowly was that Ancaladar's bonding was transfered to Terciel with Jeremyan's death. I know it was a foreboding sign that it is desperate times and that the darkness is coming, but seriously, come on guys. YOU BEAT US OVER THE HEADS in the last series about Anacaladar's bonding with Jeremyan was permanent and that the dragon only bonded by one person. Granted, the spell was done by one eleven king *and* a elven-knight mage, but still, geez. Don't you love when authors go back on their own set principles? *g*

Another thing. As much as I was completely amused by the ending, um, please give your readers and the main characters a little bit more time than five pages *at the end of the novel* to realize that their lives are going to be changed completely by becoming a knight-mage? It was a good ending, I must admit, but still, I kinda feel sorry for Harrier that it's at the last minute he finds out he has a part to play in this story after all....

Kareta is going to be love, I know it. <3333333

Anyways, back to your regulary scheduled journal entries...

One more week of part time and I shall be officially unemployed again. *sighs* I am really getting sick of all of this. Especially Tommy. He's threatening to pull out financial help because of it. What the fuck does he want me to do, start selling drugs in my spare time? Geez. Momma can do whatever she wants to do with him, I'm tired of it. I hardly even speak to him now anyways. He's been mad since Grumpy's monitor died and I went and got a new one. Did I have the money, not really. But I don't care. My computer is about the only thing left that's enjoyable. Poor Grumpy. *pets him* He's on his last toe. I don't think it won't be much longer till he's kicking the bucket and headed to the same pile as his screen.

In other news, shiny new monitor is shiny.

Phantom Hourglass for the DS is annoying. >> Worst Zelda game I think I've ever played.

I had the strangest Judson dream ever. Jewett had turned into a rpg dungeon with pipes, escalators, random hidden elevators and floors, traps, rickety floors with holes, ropes and ladders. I think I saw some rings and coin boxes. And you have to evade teachers, because they didn't want you to find the hidden floors. It was fun though. We were running all over the place. Had to find the hidden part of second floor. Oh yeah, and fourth floor was forbidden. I guess something things don't change in dreams. ;)

Does anybody know of a good file sharing software? I want to hear the last two audiobooks of Harry Potter, but you know, without paying the 80 bucks for 50+ disks. <<

I am pleased we finally have two rock stations in this area now. It makes having something to listen to in the car much easier. My MP3 player won't hold a charge anymore, so this is quite good. There are way too many country stations. ;D

I think I'm going to go watch the new Highlander movie now. *scuttles away*

Snow - Who Me?
I had fun. :) I finished Kingdom Hearts II, watched the Ark of Truth, and actually sat down and watched my first episodes of the 10th Doctor. Yay for sci-fi and fantasy. Boo for final battles that *never* end! >>

On the subject of Kingdom Hearts, I was most pleased. Lovely game. Albeit, I think the second lost some luster with me. I don't know really why off the top of my head. The battles didn't feel 'epic' enough. I think the AI lost some of it's 'smartness' between the two. Or Sora just got that much better. I do like the drive forms. Don't like Master form. Bleh. Anti-Sora << The battle sequences were good. The flight simulation was much better, though they could have done without that one fight at the end. Meh. >> And bah! Cid's voice. Whoever decided Cid should sound like he was from Texas should be shot.

Roxas! ;_; I liked him. He needs his own game. I want a huggable Roxas plushie now...

Riku with long long hair. *_*

All in all good game, can't wait for the next *counts* three. ;)

Ark of Truth was lovely. It was a great way of wrapping up the Ori storyline in Stargate SG-1. Morgan Le Fay reaching down and healing Teal'c's back was so cute. So 'fay' like. ;) I liked that Vala got to see her daughter once more, even if she was ascended and you know, trying to take over *everything*. Cute sequence between a mother and a child. I need to see more of the 10th season so some things make more sense. Daniel was a Prior...what? Merlin being an ancient amused me. So what was he doing 'meddling' with King Arthur? *chuckle*

And Doctor Who...good as usual. :)David Tennant is amusing. He reminds me of giraffe with that neck of his. Especially with the glasses on. I don't know why.

Darn you Heather! You made me just have to try those Double Stufd Mint Creme Oreos. *_*

I broke Laura with bad Sailor Moon cosplay skits. I am amused. ;D I love the one with Fiore and 'It's not like it's a position he hasn't been in before.' Priceless. :D

Virgo Horoscope for week of March 27, 2008

In his science fiction book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams says "the meaning of life, the universe, and everything" is the number 42. This week you will prove that's wrong, as you accumulate substantial evidence that the meaning of life, the universe, and everything is actually 59. APRIL FOOLS! The meaning of everything can't be reduced to one number, or even to a single theory or ideology. In fact, the meaning of everything is just the opposite: It's glorious mystery. It's gorgeous, mind-teasing ambiguity and fertile, fascinating chaos. Get out there and enjoy the prodigious, kaleidoscopic truth!

Hey guys...new song for myu? It's a glorious mystery! xD *dives offstage to avoid thrown objects*
